Charges likely in Ceredo crash
CEREDO -- Charges are pending against a man who was the driver of a vehicle involved in an accident Friday night on Airport Access Road in Ceredo.
The accident happened at about 9:45 p.m., said Ceredo Police Officer Jamie Wolfe.
He said two vehicles traveling in opposite directions on the road collided when one of the vehicles crossed into the opposite lane. He said the driver of one of the vehicles ran off the road in an attempt to avoid being struck, but that driver was unable to avoid the collision.
The driver who crossed the center line appeared to be under the influence of drugs, and Wolfe said he found syringes in the man's pocket at the scene.
He said that man and a juvenile girl, who was in his vehicle at the time of the crash, were transported to a local hospital. Wolfe could not comment on the seriousness of their injuries, but he said they both were conscious at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle was treated at the scene and released.
Airport Access Road was closed for about an hour while emergency responders cleared the scene.
No one was arrested in connection with the crash Friday night, but Wolfe said charges are likely to be filed in the case.
