Local college chef picked as nationwide winner
HUNTINGTON -- Chris Bugher, executive chef of Mountwest Community and Technical College, has been selected as one of five winners in a nationwide contest hosted by the Center for Advancement of Foodservice Education, the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board and Emmi Roth USA.
The contest invited post-secondary food service instructors to make a short video sharing why they love Wisconsin cheese and how they use cheese in the classroom.
Bugher's video featured lessons with his students about how to make fresh ricotta cheese.
Bugher and the other winners will be flown to Wisconsin for a five-day trip that includes a hands-on experience with cheese making at Emmi Roth, dinner at L'Etoile prepared by James Beard award-winning chef Tory Miller and a trip to the American Cheese Society National Conference in Madison, Wis.
Bugher said he hopes to bring new knowledge back to his students and integrate it into the classroom.
