Faith in Action to host fundraiser concert

HUNTINGTON -- One local church will host an evening featuring the "Sweet Sounds of Spring" this weekend.

Faith in Action of the River Cities will host a fundraising event at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at First United Methodist Church in Huntington.

A cast of singers from the local musical theater community will perform numbers from Broadway musicals under the direction of Christopher Bowling. Audience members will have the chance to participate in sing-along performances while enjoying a variety of delicious cesserts.

Tickets to the event will be $20 for adults and $10 for children between 3- and 12-years-old. Tickets are available at the Faith in Action office at 848 9th Avenue, Huntington, or at the door.

Beech Fork to host open house event

HUNTINGTON -- Beech Fork Lake will host a "Kick Off to Summer" open house from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at the Beech Fork Lake Visitor Center adjacent to the dam.

Corps of Engineers mascots Bobber the Water Safety Dog and Corey the Boat will be on hand to promote water safety. They'll also be giving water safety prizes and materials to visitors.

The Beech Fork Lake Visitor Center and Project Office is located at 5441 Beech Fork Road, Lavalette, W.Va.
