County, CVB say trailer near Harpers Ferry must go
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. (AP) — The 150th anniversary of John Brown’s raid on the Union arsenal at Harpers Ferry is approaching, and Jefferson County officials say a mobile home near the historic town isn’t the image they want visitors to see.
The Jefferson County Convention and Visitors Bureau has used the trailer for its Harpers Ferry office for several years.
Jefferson County Commissioner Jim Surkamp calls the trailer “a bad joke” and says it has to go.
Visitors bureau Board President Ron Marcus says the bureau wants to get out of the trailer and is looking at options for a new location. Marcus says the trailer sets a bad image.
