New respite center opening Friday in Barboursville
BARBOURSVILLE — A drop-off respite center for families providing care for people with developmental disabilities will officially open at 1 p.m. Friday, May 29.
Starlight Behavioral Health Services, a local behavioral health company serving people with developmental and mental health disabilities, will open the center at 702 Central Ave., in Barboursville.
“It will allow primary caregivers, especially those who live in rural areas of our community, a place to leave their children with trained staff for a few hours to go to the store or attend a doctor’s appointment,” said Amy Ingles, Starlight founder and CEO, in a prepared statement.
The center will provide respite services to individuals ages 3 through adult, offering structured recreational and leisure activities.
The center will operate from 3 to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays. Twenty-four hour notice is required. MR/DD Waiver and private pay will be accepted.
