Environmental group to protest mountaintop removal
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A coalition of environmental groups plans to rally at the state capitol building to oppose an environmental permit for mountaintop removal next to Kanawha State Forest.
The demonstration is planned for Thursday evening.
The group plans to collect petitions asking Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin to rescind the permit that would allow for mountaintop removal.
The group plans to present the governor with its petitions on Friday.
