Farm Service Agency meetings set
WAYNE — U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall, D.-W.Va., State Agricultural Commissioner Walt Helmick and representatives for U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D.-W.Va., will be in the area to speak about opportunities to assist local farming operations during two Farm Service Agency (FSA) Strikeforce initiative meetings.
The meetings aim to discuss rural growth and opportunities in Cabell, Wayne, Lincoln, Mingo, Logan and Boone counties, which have been designated as low income counties. A strikeforce effort is underway with special grant and loan programs for agricultural producers.
The first meeting will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the Wayne Senior Center located at 1300 Norfolk Avenue.
The second meeting will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug 20, in the Lincoln Primary Care Center located at 7400 Lynn Ave., in Hamlin, West Virginia.
All agricultural producers and students are encouraged to attend.
