West Portsmouth bank robbed Friday

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio _ The Wesbanco bank at 2331 Galena Pike, West Portsmouth, was robbed at 11:19 a.m. Friday, according to the office of Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini.

Deputies and detectives, along with agents from the local Federal Bureau of Investigations office responded to the robbery.

Authorities were told a male entered the bank brandishing a weapon and demanded money, according to the release.

The robber also demanded a female teller give him her car keys and then made her walk with him to her vehicle in the parking lot. The man got in the car left, heading southbound, in a 2000 gold, two-door Cavalier. The vehicle was recovered on the side of the road in West Portsmouth shortly after the robbery.
