OUS to host illegal drug abuse awareness seminar
IRONTON -- A seminar on illegal drug abuse awareness is scheduled from 3 from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, in the Mains Rotunda at Ohio University-Southern in Ironton.
Dr. Dan Bentley is among those scheduled to speak. Tim Sexton, director of the Lawrence County Drug and Major Crime Task Force, also is scheduled to speak.
The event is free and open to the public.
Meanwhile, about 65 law enforcement officers and prosecutors have signed up to attend a free, one-day training for authorities about illegal prescription drugs. The seminar is set from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 4, in Bowman Auditorium at the Southern campus.
Sponsors include Ohio Attorney Gen. Richard Cordray, Lawrence County Prosecutor J.B. Collier Jr. and the Lawrence County Drug and Major Crime Task Force.
