Three enter contest at Hillbilly Hotdogs, two finish
LESAGE -- The Homewrecker world record remained safe and sound with record holder Ron Cash Clark following the Homewrecker Hoe Down, Show Down on Wednesday evening at the original Hillbilly Hot Dogs in Lesage.
It took Clark four minutes and 20 seconds to finish the 15-inch, jalepeno-drenched hot dog, earning him the top spot against two other competitors during the event at the restaurant, said Sonny Knight, who co-owns the restaurant with his wife, Sharie.
The current record is just over two minutes.
Dawson Snyder finished the contest in second place, finishing his Homewrecker in five minutes and 20 seconds, and a third competitor failed to clean his plate, said Knight.
The restaurant, which celebrated its 14th anniversary this month, often is home to such challenges for customers, and Knight said they always are open for ideas and contestants.
"It just gets bigger and better every year," said Knight. "It's so neat to have people who want to do things and are giving us ideas and support to do it. If someone has a challenge they want to do, we will do it if we can.
"Money isn't the issue with us, it's the fun we're going to have."
