Milton woman reports dead animal, note put in mailbox

The following information was provided by the Cabell County Sheriff's Office:

THREATS: A 40-year-old woman reported someone placed a dead squirrel with a note attached to it in her mailbox along Kilgore Creek Road in Milton sometime Tuesday. The woman told authorities the incident may have to do with an ongoing family dispute.

BURGLARY, BREAKING AND ENTERING: A 19-year-old man reported someone broke into his residence in the 5200 block of Ohio River Road and took more than $1,600 in electronics and $2,000 in cash.

The following information was provided by the Huntington Police Department:

BREAKING AND ENTERING: A 58-year-old man reported someone broke into his garage in the 300 block of Willard Court and took four motorcycles worth a total of $2,000 and an air conditioning unit worth $300 sometime between Friday evening and Monday morning.

BURGLARY: A 25-year-old woman reported someone broke into a friend's apartment in the 2900 block of 7th Avenue sometime Monday night and took a computer worth $1,500 and at least $10,000 in jewelry and clothing. The woman said she was checking in on the victim's dogs while she was out of town.

THEFT OF A RENTAL VEHICLE: An employee at Dutch Miller Chevrolet reported the suspect rented a vehicle on July 20 when his was at the business for repairs. The repairs were completed on Sept. 3, but the suspect has refused to return the rental car and pick up his car. The rental car is valued at $5,000. Police have a suspect.

BURGLARY: A 35-year-old man reported someone broke into his residence in the 400 block of Avondale Road and took $1,399 in jewelry, a television worth $1,200 and a bed sheet worth $20.

LARCENY: A 45-year-old woman reported someone took a touch screen computer worth $1,100 from her residence in the 600 block of West 12th Street sometime Monday. The woman said she located the computer at a local pawn shop. Police have a suspect.

The following information was provided by the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville:

Zachary Lee Shelton, 27, was incarcerated at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities in Lincoln County charged him with felony grand larceny and four counts of felony burglary. Bond was denied pending arraignment.
