Murder charges dismissed in Kentucky double slaying
FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (AP) — Prosecutors have dropped murder charges against a migrant worker in the deaths of two unidentified people.
The charges were brought against Mariano Arias last year after police found two sets of skeletal remains in Fleming County.
Prosecutor J. Kelly Clarke told The Ledger Independent that the charges were dismissed Friday because there isn't enough evidence to proceed to trial. Clarke says if more evidence is found, the charges could be reinstated.
Arias remains in custody under a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement holder because of his residency status.
