DOT delays further Beckley bypass work until 2014
BECKLEY, W.Va. (AP) — The West Virginia Department of Transportation is delaying further work on the East Beckley Bypass project until 2014.
DOT spokesman Brent Walker says the agency also might drop an overpass from the project.
The bypass is designed to ease traffic congestion in the Beckley area.
Walker tells The Register-Herald that the DOT hopes to put the next section of the bypass out for bids next year. The 1.4-mile section will run from Industrial Drive to Stanaford.
He didn’t know whether funding was a factor in the decision to delay the project.
