Beard Mortuary hosts blood drive
HUNTINGTON -- Beard Mortuary and the Downtown Huntington Lions Club, in cooperation with the Red Cross, will sponsor a blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, in the Beard Mortuary parking lot, 3001 3rd Ave., Huntington.
The Lions Club will also offer on-site vision screenings. Free refreshments will be served.
Ashland Hospice to host volunteer fair
ASHLAND -- Community Hospice will host a volunteer fair from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at its office, 1480 Carter Ave., Ashland. The fair is open to the public, particularly those interested in becoming a Community Hospice volunteer. Light refreshments will be served.
Volunteer opportunities include in-home respite care, caregiver time out, emotional support and visitation, nursing home visits, companionship and reading, bereavement support, spiritual care, running errands, delivery drivers, office clerical work and more.
The fair is being offered in conjunction with the upcoming volunteer orientation session scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 30 through Nov. 1.
