Several suffer minor injuries in two I-64 crashes
HUNTINGTON — Two unrelated accidents snarled traffic on I-64 for a short time Saturday.
The first accident was reported just after 7:30 a.m. Saturday. Cabell County dispatchers reported the vehicle crashed between the 5th Street and Hal Greer Boulevard exits, near mile marker 9, just before the Welcome Center.
Two ambulances responded to the scene, where dispatch reports also indicated a mother and three children were going to be checked out by emergency personnel. Early reports indicate one of the children, a 12-year-old girl, likely would be transported to a local hospital.
Traffic was closed for 45 minutes following that accident.
The second accident was reported to dispatchers just after 1 p.m. That accident also took place between the 5th Street and Hal Greer Boulevard exits in the westbound lanes, but dispatch reports indicated it took place closer to mile marker 10, just past the Welcome Center.
Preliminary reports indicated three people were injured, but only one person was transported to a local hospital.
Traffic was kept to one lane for about an hour while crews cleared the scene.
