Cabell County 911 received word of the crash at 3:09 p.m. Thursday. It was located in the eastbound lanes of I-64, just past the 17th Street exit.
Cabell County Sheriff Tom McComas said those hurt received non-life threatening injuries.
Eastbound lanes of I-64 were closed until about 5 p.m. as deputies investigated the accident, McComas said.
Deputies on the scene said the accident remains under investigation, although it appears a vehicle was merging from an eastbound on-ramp when a sudden change in speed by vehicles already on the interstate led to that vehicle being rear-ended by another, setting off a chain reaction of crashes.
The Cabell County Sheriff's Office took the investigation when one of its units reached the scene.
