Huntington Police to receive 'Cop-In-A-Box'

Oct. 07, 2012 @ 12:00 AM

HUNTINGTON -- The Huntington Police Department will be presented with a new piece of technology aimed at providing the department with a computer system to allow them to target online sexual predators.

The Safe Surfin' Foundation, based in Bedford, Va., will be making the presentation of a "Cop-In-A-Box" unit to the department at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at department headquarters.

The Safe Surfin' Foundation is a nonprofit organization which has partnered with Moose International to create the Cop-In-A-Box program. Moose Lodge 2586 in Barboursville and Jim Hale, regional manager for the West Virginia Moose Association, were active in getting the funds necessary for this donation.

Bedford County, Va., Sheriff Michael J. Brown, who co-founded the organization in 1998, will be on hand for the presentation.
