Ky. officials want public opinion on standards

March 12, 2010 @ 07:31 AM

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — A month after Kentucky education officials approved the adoption of new national learning standards for the state’s elementary and secondary students, the state education department is asking for feedback.

Educators and the public can go online to see a draft of what is called the Common Core State Standards in English, language arts and mathematics. After viewing them, the public is asked to take a survey.

Kentucky will collect the responses and send them to the Council of Chief State School Officers and the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices for their consideration as they finalize the standards.

The standards and the surveys can be found at www.corestandards.org.

The deadline is March 29.
