Public input sought on New River park plan
BECKLEY, W.Va. (AP) — The National Park Service is seeking public input on the future management of the New River Gorge National River.
The park service is proposing five alternatives for managing the park for the next 15 to 20 years. A decision on the final plan is expected later this year.
Public comments must be submitted by April 2.
New River Gorge Deputy Superintendent Debbie Darden says the preferred option is a proposed plan called “Exploration Experiences.” It includes a park-length trail that would start at Hawks Nest and end in Hinton, preserving primitive areas and creating connectors to hiking/biking trails outside the park.
