March 14, 2010 @ 11:18 AM

HUNTINGTON — The Trailblazer Scholarship Program is seeking 15 adults with dependents and a financial need who want to start or continue their academic career at Marshall University or MCTC.

The scholarship provides up to $8,500 per year for up to four years to attend full-time and pursue a degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.

Students also will be required to attend program activities, such as a three-day summer workshop, each year. The program also will help provide child care assistance, math tutoring and career coaching.

The fields of study under the allowable majors at Marshall and MCTC include: pre-dentistry, pre-med, pre-pharmacy, pre-veterinary, biology, chemistry, geology, information technology, animation and gaming, Web development and bioscience.

To apply, applicants must be Pell-grant eligible and be able to document previous academic success. A minimum of 15 students will be chosen to participate in the program. Applications are due no later than April 15.
