Second arrest made in Carter County double homicide

November 21, 2009 @ 12:00 AM

MOCABEE CREEK, Ky. -- A second man was arrested Friday in connection with a double homicide in Carter County, Ky.

Richard M. Tomlin Jr., 48, was charged with two counts of complicity to commit murder and one count of receiving stolen property, according to the Carter County Detention Center, where he is being held.

David J. Caudill, 33, is charged with two counts of murder stemming from last weekend's discovery of the bodies of Virginia Massard and Joseph Cox. Caudill is accused of shooting them both in Massard's home in Mocabee Creek.

Caudill was arrested Tuesday, a day after the bodies were discovered, driving Massard's vehicle.

Kentucky State Police said the shooting death of a third man, Calvin D. Fannin, is unrelated.
