WVU board set to approve 3 new degrees Tuesday

Aug. 06, 2013 @ 08:11 AM

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia University is about to get several new degree programs.

The Board of Governors is meeting late Tuesday afternoon by conference call to formally approve the creation of degree programs in three areas — forensic investigation, biomedical engineering, and immunology and medical microbiology.

The WVU Forensic and Investigative Science department has been growing steadily for years. It now has three crime scene houses, a forensic garage and an 18,000-square-foot forensic laboratory.

The board is also getting formal notification that the physics department has changed its name: It’s now called the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
