Juvenile arrested in recent beating
HUNTINGTON -- Huntington Police have arrested a 17-year-old juvenile in relation to the beating of a homeless man at Harris Riverfront Park that was captured on video.
The juvenile was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with malicious wounding.
Huntington Police Lt. John Williams said police arrested the juvenile after the juvenile participated in an interview with a detective. The juvenile was released to his parents after arraignment.
Williams said there could be more arrests within the next couple of days, and he said all of the suspects are juveniles.
The investigation started after the video surfaced Monday on Facebook and photobucket along with comments bragging about the incident. Concerned residents brought the video to the attention of the Huntington Police Department.
Williams said his investigator had identified each of the alleged attackers by Tuesday afternoon. The detective was still working to identify other juveniles at the scene. He said those who attacked the victim and recorded the incident face possible arrest. Those involved in the attack face a misdemeanor battery charge at the very least, Williams said.
