Police: W.Va. woman tied up, left at strip mine
MEADOW BRIDGE — West Virginia authorities are searching for a man they say bound a woman’s hands and feet together before leaving her at a strip mine.
Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler said in a news release that 38-year-old Betty Burns told deputies she got into an altercation with her boyfriend Wednesday.
When she tried to leave, she says he hit her in the head and tied her hands and feet with rope.
He then allegedly taped her mouth with a sock and a handkerchief, and drove her to a strip mine site, shoved her out and drove away.
Authorities say Burns freed her legs and walked to a nearby house, where she called 911.
The Charleston Gazette reports that 36-year-old Larry Nelson has been charged with of kidnapping and domestic violence.
