Chiles sworn in as circuit judge
HUNTINGTON — Longtime prosecutor Chris Chiles became Cabell County’s newest circuit judge during a ceremony Tuesday afternoon in Huntington.
Chiles took his oath of office from the Circuit Judge Alfred Ferguson. He was robed by his father, Linden Chiles.
The ceremony, formally known as an investiture, attracted an overflow, standing-room-only audience.
Chiles received his appointment as circuit judge from Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin. It fills a vacancy left by the retired Judge David Pancake.
Chiles will run for the Democratic Party’s nomination to serve Pancake’s unexpired term this May. He faces former high school classmate Cheryl Henderson in the primary election.
