VFDs in Wheeling, Princeton get federal funding
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Volunteer fire departments in Wheeling and Princeton will receive federal funding to help with operations.
Sens. Joe Manchin and Jay Rockefeller and Congressman Nick Rahall announced the funding Thursday.
The Sherrard Volunteer Fire Department will use $52,000 in funding for fire prevention initiatives.
The Green Valley-Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department will use a $21,000 grant to buy higher-quality protective clothing.
The funding comes from a program administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
