Homecoming court announced at Marshall

October 02, 2012 @ 11:45 PM

Three men and three women will spend the rest of the week hoping to hear their names called at halftime of Saturday's homecoming football game between Marshall University and Tulsa.

The six students are vying to become Mr. and Miss Marshall, after becoming the finalists announced Tuesday as part of the 2012 Homecoming Court.

The three candidates for Miss Marshall are Casey Adams, a senior biology major from Huntington; Andrea Celorio, a senior international business and finance major from Guadalajara, Mexico, now living in Poca, W.Va.; and Leslie Thomas, a senior biology major from Montgomery, W.Va.

The three candidates for Mr. Marshall are Rusty Sartin, a junior nursing major from Kermit, W.Va.; Stephen "J.R." Sheppard, a first-year exercise physiology graduate student from Delbarton, W.Va.; and Zachary Morris, a junior public relations major from Montgomery, W.Va.

Saturday's game at Joan C. Edwards Stadium starts at 3:30 p.m. A complete schedule of homecoming events can be found at www.marshall.edu. One event not on the list is the annual WMUL Car Bash from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday on Buskirk Field.

Cost to bash a minivan painted in Tulsa's colors is $1 for two minutes. The remains of the minivan will be hauled on a trailer in the homecoming parade, which starts at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in downtown Huntington.
