11 minors cited by MU, local authorities
The following information was provided by the Marshall University Police Department:
UNDERAGE DRINKING: Campus police, the Huntington Police Department and the Cabell County Sheriff's Department conducted an underage drinking operation on and around campus from 9 p.m. Thursday to 3 a.m. Friday and issued 11 citations.
Campus police also issued three underage consumption citations April 14 outside Twin Towers East to three men who were intoxicated. Also on April 14, an 18-year-old man was found passed out between the freshman residence halls. He also was cited for underage consumption.
SHOPLIFTING: A student was cited for first-offense shoplifting after taking a soda from the food court at the Memorial Student Center Monday afternoon and walking out without paying.
PETIT LARCENY: A woman reported that someone took $95 in cash from her purse while it was unsecured in the Memorial Student Center lobby between 2 and 10:15 p.m. Saturday.
POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: Two students were cited for possession of marijuana. The first incident occurred just after midnight April 15 when a student was caught smoking in the stairwell of Twin Towers West.
The second incident occurred just before 7 p.m. Saturday when police responded to the smell of marijuana coming from the second floor of Holderby Hall. The resident granted police admittance to his room, where he had a small amount of marijuana in a prescription bottle and a pipe that contained residue.
SEXUAL ABUSE: A woman reported that she invited a known man to her dorm room in Buskirk Hall to hang out. She told police he touched her chest on the outside of her shirt, to which she told him to stop and asked him to leave. The incident is under investigation.
