Job fair to feature more than 20 employers
HUNTINGTON -- The Marshall University Career Services Center will host its bi-annual Job-A-Palooza Part-Time Job & Internship Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, in the Memorial Student Center.
The fair will feature more than 20 area employers giving students ample opportunities to seek out a part-time job or internship over the summer.
"We hold the Job-A-Palooza fair once every semester before the winter and summer breaks," said Jennifer Brown, program manager for Internships and Experiential Learning at the Marshall Career Services Center. "It is different from the career expo in that it isn't as formal. However, students should still dress in a professional fashion and bring resumes. Students can print resumes and business cards at the Career Center. "It's a great opportunity to make connections with companies."
Brown said the events come together fairly quickly, but they continue to do some recruiting to remind employers of the opportunity.
"The companies that mostly come are local employers and chains," Brown said. "Old Navy, Aflac, Speedway and United Bank are just a few of the companies that will be coming. Students are welcome to come in to the career center anytime before Job-A-Palooza to get some help. If students would like to come over and conduct a mock interview that sometimes helps them feel more comfortable with networking with employers, they can. Going through an interview can help students feel more comfortable with the interview process and see the kind of questions that will be asked. We can also review resumes for the students to help them."
