Marshall Rec Center to celebrate 4th anniversary

HUNTINGTON -- The Marshall University Recreation Center will celebrate its 4th anniversary with some special events Tuesday, Feb. 5.

Current Rec Center members are invited to bring a friend for free at any time Tuesday. Take a class, workout on the fitness floor or play a game -- all for free.

"Improving your fitness with a new group, or friends and family, is one of the best ways to stay motivated," said Heather Smith, senior assistant Director of Fitness at the Rec Center, in a news release. "This is the perfect opportunity to do just that."

Everyone will be able to experience all the Rec Center has to offer. In addition to use of the facilities, classes will also be open to everyone. Everyone who attends a class will get a free water bottle.

It's also a way to introduce friends to the fitness opportunities at the Rec Center, and everyone can save money. Members can get one free month of membership for each qualified person they bring who signs up for a 12-month commitment. The new member will receive a free Instructional Program of their choice when they join.

The Marshall Recreation Center facilities include a climbing wall, sport courts, fitness machines and an aquatics center with a vortex pool. This and more will be available for everyone to try.

Here is the schedule of events: (No pre-registration necessary, but space is limited.)

7 a.m. -- Tough Mudder Prep Class

8 a.m. -- Total Body Conditioning

12:15 p.m. -- C.U.T. (Cross-Training Under 30)

2 p.m. -- Core Conditioning

4 p.m. -- Cardio Fitness

5 p.m. -- Intro to Yoga

5 p.m. -- TRX Training

5:15 p.m. -- Express Spin

5:15 p.m. -- C.U.T. (Cross-Training Under 30)

6 p.m. -- Boxing Body Beatdown

6 p.m. -- Burn and Firm

6:15 p.m. -- Egyptian Bellydance

7 p.m. -- Zumba

7:15 p.m. -- Spin-45

8 p.m. -- Cardio Circuit
