MU fraternity hosts marathon charity event
HUNTINGTON -- The members of one local fraternity chapter laced up their sneakers Thursday afternoon and prepared to cycle through the night.
The Zeta Pi chapter of Pi Kappa Phi at Marshall University hosted its annual Pedals for Push event, which supports the national Pi Kappa Phi's Push America charity.
During the event, members of Pi Kappa Phi rotated one-hour turns on stationary bicycles beginning at noon Thursday and ending at noon Friday.
Huntington Mayor Steve Williams kicked off the event by cycling for one hour, and local band Mountain Station played the cyclists into the night.
Money raised by Push America is distributed through grants to organizations throughout the country that serve people with disabilities.
