Bus drivers discuss emergency plans
IRONTON -- More than 185 school bus drivers in Lawrence County learned how to handle a variety of emergency situations and crises thanks to an Educational Services Center inservice at Ironton High School on Aug. 8.
The Ironton Police Department and the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office conducted a hostage situation on a bus; Tony Williams of the Educational Services Center provided sessions on recognition and reporting abuse; and David Lawless, transportation director of Ironton City Schools, led sessions on bus driver distraction and bus safety.
