Proctorville bank robbed
PROCTORVILLE, Ohio — The U.S. Bank at County Road 107, Proctorville, was robbed Monday afternoon, according to a news release from the office of Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless.
The 911 dispatching center received a call at 12:24 p.m. Monday that the bank in the 7500 block of County Road 107 had been robbed, according to the release.
The suspect was described as a white male, 5 foot 9, with a skinny build, short brown hair and a mustache. The robber was wearing sunglasses, a ball cap, and a dark-colored windbreaker pullover, according to the release.
The man attempted to cash a check. There were some discrepancies with the check and a teller refused to cash it. At that point, the suspect demanded that the teller give him all the money she had, according to the release.
The suspect kept his hands in his pockets and never showed any time of weapon, according to the release.
The man fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. He headed westbound on foot, according to the release.
There were three employees and no customers in the bank at the time of the robbery. No one was injured.
The investigation is ongoing and the Federal Bureau of Investigation has been contacted about the robbery, according to the release.
