Board seeking applicants for superintendent

Apr. 03, 2013 @ 12:00 AM

COAL GROVE, Ohio -- Applicants for a new superintendent at the Dawson-Bryant school district are due by Friday, said Jim Payne, superintendent of the Lawrence Educational Service Center.

The school board is seeking a superintendent by July 1 to replace Dennis Decamp who announced plans to retire by June 30 due to changes in state retirement regulations. DeCamp, 52, has been superintendent in the district for about five years.

The board will screen the applicants and then agree on a number to bring in for interviews, said Payne who is helping the district in the superintendent search.

The screening process is set to begin at the next board meeting April 15.

"It will be up to the board to screen them and set up a time for interviews," Payne said.

The salary will be commensurate with their qualifications in education, he said. No salary is set for the post, he said.
