Burglary reported in Union Township
IRONTON -- The following information was compiled from Lawrence County Sheriff's Department reports:
AGGRAVATED BURGLARY: A 37-year-old Chesapeake area man reported last week that a man came into his trailer in Union Township and shot him in the arm.
AGGRAVATED ROBBERY: A 26-year-old Huntington man reported last week that a man armed with tire arms and a knife tried to rob him in Rome Township. The man had hidden in the trunk of a vehicle.
Authorities arrested Heather L. Humphrey, 19, of Crown City, on a charge of aggravated robbery and transported her to the jail. Authorities are looking for a second suspect.
BURGLARY: A 77-year-old Pedro area man reported last week that someone broke into his home, a storage shed and a garage in Decatur Township. Numerous items including furniture, guns, tools, a utility trailer and a farm tractor were among the items reported stolen. The items were valued at $28,891.
BURGLARY: A 48-year-old Willow Wood area man reported last week that someone broke into his home in Windsor Township and stole two rifles, two shotguns, a compound bow and a display box with about 20 knives. The items were valued at $2,500.
BURGLARY: A 38-year-old South Point area man reported last week that someone broke into his residence in Fayette Township and stole two shotguns, a TV, a drill and a DVD player. The items were valued at $1,385.
ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM: A 39-year-old Ironton area man reported last week that he was helping a friend move a gun cabinet when a .16 gauge shotgun discharged. He sustained injuries to his eyes from gunpowder and his friend sustained injuries to his arm and was transported to a Huntington hospital.
POSSESSION OF DRUGS: A 27-year-old Ashland man was arrested last week on a theft charge for taking materials from Walmart in Fayette Township. Scott G. Shannon, of the 1000 block of 29th Street, was charged with possession of drugs, possession of criminal tools, possession of drug abuse instruments and petty theft and transported to jail.
THEFT OF A MOTOR VEHICLE: A 36-year-old Ironton area man reported last week that someone stole a 1982 Chevrolet truck valued at $5,000. Perry Township fire department officials subsequently reported a truck was set on fire on Crabtree Hollow and pushed into a creek.
THEFT: A representative of a Pennsylvania company reported last week that someone stole a multi-terrain loader valued at $3,500 in Elizabeth Township.
THEFT: A 27-year-old South Point area man reported last week that someone stole jewelry valued at $2,500 from a vehicle in Fayette Township.
