Community Thanksgiving dinner set for Nov. 22
CHESAPEAKE -- A Chesapeake Community Thanksgiving Service is planned for 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22 at the Chesapeake Middle School.
A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow the service.
All are invited to attend.
Children invited to have cookies with Santa
IRONTON -- Children are invited to have Cookies with Santa from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6, at the Ironton City Center. Admission is $3 per child and $1 for adults (age 13 and older). Admission includes a visit with Santa, cookie decorating and a craft activity.
Children will also enjoy hearing Christmas stories read aloud during this event. Families are encouraged to bring their cameras to take photos of their children with Santa.
"Cookies with Santa" is a fundraiser for Z Winter Guard and Rivertown Performing Arts League, Inc. For more information, call 606-922-2903.
Radio Association to have annual Christmas dinner
RUSSELL, Ky. -- The Southern Ohio Amateur Radio Association will have its annual Christmas Dinner meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 23 at the Golden Corral in Russell, Ky.
All hams, members and non-members, spouse or friend are welcome; each person pays for his or her own dinner.
The program will include ham radio speakers. Each person attending is asked to bring an item for the prize drawing. At the end of the get-together, a drawing will be held for all prizes.

Youth group to host Christmas Craft Sale
IRONTON -- The Ohio Furnace Baptist Church Youth Group will host a Christmas Craft Sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 5 at the church's fellowship hall, 3132 Haverhill, Ohio Furnace Road, Ironton.
There will be Christmas crafts, Christmas decorations, gifts, concessions and more.

Sybene Baptist Church to host craft, bake sale
SYBENE -- The Sybene Baptist Church will host a bake sale and craft sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21.
Beans and cornbread and hot dogs will also be available.
BOE to host transition workshop for new members
CHESAPEAKE -- The Chesapeake Board of Education will meet in a workshop session at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 23 at the board office.
The purpose of the meeting is to transition new board members.
Church to serve as drop-off for program
SOUTH POINT -- First Southern Baptist Church of South Point will once again serve as a regional drop-off location for Operation Christmas Child.
People in Coal Grove, South Point, Chesapeake and Proctorville are invited to bring shoe boxes filled with gifts for needy children to the church, which is located at 110 Collins Ave., next to the South Point Post Office.
Boxes will be collected between noon and 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21; from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22, and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 23.

OUS Community Band looking for new members
IRONTON -- The Ohio University Southern Community Band rehearses on Mondays in Ironton. Anyone with high school band experience, basic music reading skills and access to a band instrument except percussion is welcome to join. All instruments are needed and new members are welcome. The band's repertoire includes a variety of musical styles and genres including rock, pop, patriotic, Irish and seasonal. The band performs several times a year on and off campus.
Rehearsals are at 5:30 p.m. every Monday in the OUS Campus/Community building, located on the corner of 9th Street and Bob Lutz Way in Ironton.
