Man found dead in burning house
PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- The body of an unidentified man was found early Thursday by Portsmouth firefighters responding to a fire at 1116 Rose St., Sciotoville, according to a fire department news release.
Portsmouth dispatch was notified of a fire at 2:21 a.m., according to Portsmouth Fire Chief William v. Raison. The first unit arrived at 2:23 a.m. and reported smoke and fire showing from a one-story residential home.
An unidentified male was discovered in the living room area by search crews.
The victim was transported by the Scioto County Coroner's office to the Montgomery County Coroner's office for an autopsy, according to the release.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Portsmouth firefighters were assisted by the New Boston Fire Department.
