Bass Club scores at tournament

Aug. 15, 2013 @ 12:00 AM

RAVENSWOOD, W.Va. -- The Ohio River was swollen and muddy with recent record rainfall, but the experienced members of the Lawrence County Bass Club still managed to have a successful tournament on Sunday, Aug. 11.

Despite the less-than-ideal conditions, 23 out of 26 members brought fish to the scales during the tournament at Ravenswood, W.Va., on Sunday.

Lots of healthy smallmouth bass were caught, including several weighing more than 2 pounds, according to a news release.

Winners were:

Keith Akers, first place

Worm Leep, second place

Dave Howard, third place

Kyle Malone, Big Bass

Points Champion is still up for grabs; current leader Kyle Malone is closely being trailed by second-place Greg Freeman and third-place Ralph Wilson.

The tournament was sponsored by Gandees General store and Tackle Box Fishing and Hunting. Big Bass sponsor was Graley Auto Body.
