Ohio sex offender sentenced to 51 years without parole
IRONTON -- An Ironton man has been sentenced to more than 50 years in prison on sexually related charges involving a minor, Lawrence County Prosecuting Attorney Brigham M. Anderson said Wednesday.
Jeremy S. Curry, 23, of the 1300 block of South 1st Street, Ironton, pleaded guilty to rape and five counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.
Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge D. Scott Bowling sentenced Curry to 11 years in prison for rape and eight years on each of the pandering charges. He ordered all the sentences to be served consecutively rather than at the same time.
The victim in the rape case was a 2-year-old child, Anderson said. Ohio law provides that the charge could have carried a life sentence in prison due to the age of the victim, he said. The pandering charges were filed after child pornography was found on the defendant's phone, Anderson said.
"There is no parole eligibility in the case," Anderson said. Curry will have to serve 51 years before becoming eligible for release.
Curry also was found to be a sexually oriented offender/child victim offender and was ordered to report his address to law enforcement for the rest of his life.
