SUMMITT, KY -- An 82-year-old Louisville man was killed in a car crash on U.S. 60 west of Ashland near Fannin Motors and Boyd County Middle School Thursday afternoon, according to a news release from the Boyd County Sheriff's Department.

The victim was identified as Floryan L. Yakimovic, according to the release. He died at the scene, said Sheriff Terry Keelin.

Yakimovic was in a pickup truck that ran into a semi tractor-trailer about 1:45 p.m., according to the release.

The driver of the tractor trailer, David R. Terry, 46, of Route 3, Branchland, WV, wasn't injured in the crash. The tractor trailer was turning from Summit Road onto U.S. 60 when it was struck by the pickup truck. The pickup was lodged beneath the semi-trailer, according to the release.

Two lanes of traffic were closed for several hours until all four lanes of the divided highway were reopened to traffic about 5 p.m., Keelin said.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and alcohol or drugs didn't appear to be a factor in the crash, according to the report.

The crash remains under investigation.
