Former Coal Grove police officer arrested in Ashland
ASHLAND -- A former Coal Grove police officer was arrested Tuesday in Ashland on charges of impersonating a peace officer and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
Members of the Ashland Police Department Street Crimes Task Force conducted a traffic stop Friday on the Simeon Willis Bridge at 13th Street, according to a press release by Lt. Darren Wilson of the Ashland Police Department.
Joshua C. Hayes, a resident of Thomas Street in Ashland produced a Coal Grove Police Department identification card, according to the release. When he was questioned, Hayes initially said he was in Ashland as part of an investigation he was conducting, according to the release.
Ashland police subsequently were advised by Coal Grove police that Hayes had been terminated from the department on June 7.
Hayes was arrested by Ashland police at his home, according to the release.
