OU Proctorville to offer new master's degree

Mar. 01, 2012 @ 12:00 AM

PROCTORVILLE -- A master's degree program designed specifically for busy, working professionals will be offered at the Ohio University Proctorville Center beginning in the Summer 2012 semester.

Through a combination of online learning and monthly class meetings, the Ohio Executive Master of Public Administration (OEMPA) is tailor-made for people with Monday through Friday jobs in the public and nonprofit sectors who want to further their education.

This "hybrid" program provides the convenience of online learning and the personal connections gained through the classroom, according to a press release from OUS. The OEMPA features a once-a-month weekend residency, with the remainder of the coursework offered online.

At the monthly weekend residencies, seminar meetings are held at 6 p.m. Friday, 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday, and 8:30 a.m. Sunday. Guest speakers from the public sector are occasionally invited over the course of the program.

Information sessions will be offered at the Ohio University Southern Campus in the Collins Center, 1804 Room, at 6 p.m. on March 13, and the Ohio University Proctorville Center, Room 130, at 6 p.m. on April 3.

The application deadline for the program is May 15. There is no additional charge for out-of-state tuition. For more information, visit www.outreach.ohio.edu/mpa or call the OEMPA program office at 740-593-4381.
