Truck fire prompts closure on I-64
CATLETTSBURG, Ky. -- A tractor-trailer fire closed both eastbound lane of Interstate 64 late Thursday and early Friday, according to a news release from the Boyd County sheriff's department.
Deputies responded to a tractor-trailer wreck at the 191-mile marker at 9:48 p.m. Thursday. The two eastbound lanes were closed for about five hours.
Alexander Litinov, 55, of Skokie, Illinois, was operating a 2007 Volvo pulling a box trailer when the right rear trailer tire blew out and caught fire, according to the release. The fire spread to the contents of the trailer, destroying food products, according to the release.
The Catlettsburg Fire Department, England Hill Fire department, Big Sandy Fire Department and the Kenova Fire Department responded to the scene.
No injuries were reported. The fire remains under investigation by the sheriff's department.
Boyd County Emergency Management responded to the scene and assisted with operations, according to the release.
