ASHLAND -- An Ashland woman had to be life-flighted to a Huntington hospital Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in the Kroger parking lot in Ashland, according to Ashland police.
Ruth Martin, 84, of Ashland, was listed in stable condition at St Mary's Medical Center in Huntington on Tuesday afternoon and was still being evaluated, according to Doug Korstanje, a hospital spokesman.
Martin was struck by a vehicle driven by Mary O'Daniel of County Road 1 in Lawrence County, Ohio, according to Lt. William Bare of the Ashland Police Department.
Witnesses said Martin apparently stepped out in front of the vehicle and was struck, Bare said. No charges have been filed in the case, he said.
The accident was reported about 2 p.m. Tuesday. Martin was flown to Huntington by a HealthNet helicopter, Bare said.
