Ohio woman could get life in jail

IRONTON -- An Ironton area woman faces a life sentence in prison if convicted on charges of complicity to the rape of a two-year-old girl and to pandering obscenity involving a minor, according to the office of Lawrence County Prosecutor J.B. Collier Jr.

Alice Reffitt, 20, of the 1400 block of S. 1st Street, Ironton, was indicted Tuesday on a charge she assisted Jeremy S. Curry, 21, of the 1300 block of S. 1st Street, Ironton, in the rape of the two-year-old earlier this year. Curry was indicted on the rape charge earlier this year and has entered a plea of innocent in the case.

Reffitt was one of nine people indicted Tuesday by a Lawrence County grand jury.

In an unrelated case, Aaron J. Pack, 24, of Mead McNeer Road, Wheelersburg, was indicted on charges of aggravated robbery, kidnapping and tampering with evidence. He is charged with aggravated robbery, kidnapping and tampering with evidence. He was charged with accosting an employee at Hopper's carryout in Hanging Rock on Sept. 21, according to Brigham Anderson, an assistant county prosecutor.

Pack also was charged earlier this month in Scioto County on a charge he robbed a BP station in Franklin Furnace, Ohio. Pack reportedly admitted to robbing the BP stations in both Franklin Furnace and Lloyd, Ky., earlier this year along with Hopper's, according to a news release from the office of Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini.

In other cases:

Craig A. Adkins Sr., 47, of Township Road 1161, Proctorville, Ohio, was indicted on a charge of burglary.

Brandi N. Traylor, 30, of the 3700 block of S. 3rd Street, Ironton, was indicted on a charge of theft of drugs.

George M. Layne, 31, of the 2500 block of S. 7th Street, Ironton, was indicted on charges of domestic violence and theft.

Michelle K. Curry, 31, of the 2100 block of S. 6th Street, Ironton, was indicted on three counts of theft.

Carl V. Carpenter, 38, of County Road 31, Chesapeake, was indicted on a charge of breaking and entering.

Stanley Sharp, 45, of County Road 15, South Point, was indicted on a charge of notice of residence address change.

Brandon James McCorcle, 20, of the 2300 block of S .7th Street, Ironton, was indicted on a charge of failure to register after being convicted of a sexually oriented offense.

An indictment is a formal charge made against a person by a grand jury. It does not establish guilt or innocence.
