Free tire collections scheduled in Ky.
ASHLAND -- The Kentucky Energy and Environmental Cabinet's Division of Waste Management is giving local residents a chance to get rid of old tires free of charge, according to a news release.
County officials will conduct the collection events at county or state highway garages. The tires will be recycled. More than 22 million scrap tires have been collected during amnesty days and through cleanups of illegal dumps since the program started in 1988.
In Boyd County, the drop-off site is the state highway garage at 1168 Halee Lane, Ashland, from Sept. 12-14. In Greenup County, the site is the state highway garage at 17356 U.S. 23 on Sept. 19-21, and in Carter County will be held at the state highway garage at 1474 N. Kentucky 7 in Grayson on Sept. 5-7.
