Member of South Point council to resign
SOUTH POINT, Ohio -- Village Council member David Classing will resign effective Nov. 15 and asked the Lawrence County Board of Elections to withdraw his name as a candidate for re-election to another four-year term.
Classing has served on village council since 1997. He was married last October and is moving to Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.
"There have been many ups and downs during these 16 years, but I have kept the people's interests at heart during my tenure," Classing said in a letter to South Point Village Clerk Scott Thomas. "My working for the people's interest is reflected in the minutes as records of my votes as well as in the memories of the countless numbers of people who reached out for help while facing difficult and challenging situations with local, state and federal governments."
