Man gets prison for burglary, aggravated arson
IRONTON -- An Oak Hill, Ohio, man was sentenced Wednesday to four years in prison after he pleaded guilty to charges of burglary and aggravated arson.
Melvin S. Keller, 44, of Ohio 140, Oak Hill, was sentenced to prison by Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge Charles "Chuck" Cooper.
In an unrelated case, Linda S. Rosebrough, 50, of the 2500 block of South 4th Street, Ironton, pleaded guilty to three counts of complicity to trafficking in crack cocaine, two counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs and one count of complicity to aggravated trafficking in drugs. Cooper sentenced her to four years in prison and suspended her driver's license for two years.
Rosebrough was released on a furlough until 6 p.m. Nov. 9 when she was ordered to report to the Lawrence County Jail.
In another case, Rita Caskey, 43, of Mayo Trail, Catlettsburg, admitted violating terms of her community control sanctions after new charges were filed against her in Kentucky. She was sentenced in the case by Judge D. Scott Bowling.
In other court action, Jacob M. Hankins, 21, of the 800 block of Marion Pike, Coal Grove, admitted violating terms of his community control sanctions and was sentenced to a year in prison. Hankins also was ordered to pay $1,154 in fines. He was released on furlough until noon Monday.
In other cases:
-- Troy D. Earles, 37, of Orient, Ohio, entered an Alford plea to theft and was sentenced to nine months in prison.
-- Frank E. Thomas, 18, of Township Road 155E, Pedro, and Rosetta A. Gunter, 22, of the 400 block of Center Street, Ironton, both pleaded guilty to forgery. Bowling sentenced them to 30 days in the county jail and placed them on community control sanctions for four years. They also were ordered to pay $1,320.80 in restitution.
-- Aaron J. Pemberton, 35, of Private Drive, South Point, admitted violating terms of his community control sanctions by pleading guilty to a shoplifting charge in Boyd County, not paying $333 in restitution, $132 in court costs and $120 in a supervisory fees. A request for a furlough was denied.
-- James R. Ison, 23, of County Road 10C, Pedro, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering and two counts of theft. He was sentenced by Bowling to seven months in prison. Ison was released on a furlough and ordered to report back to the jail by 3 p.m. Nov. 11.
-- Brandon Stewart, 23, of the 300 block of Wilgus Street, Proctorville, denied violating terms of his community control sanctions after being charged with burglary and resisting arrest. Bowling set the case for trial Nov. 18.
-- Robert A Erwin, 30, of the 500 block of 9th Street, South Point, denied violating terms of his community control sanctions after being kicked out of the STAR Community Justice Center. The case was set for trial Nov. 18.
-- Misty D. Shavor, 29, of County Road 55, South Point, denied violating terms of her community control sanctions. She is charged with violating the sanctions by testing positive for drugs. Bowling set the case for trial Nov. 18.
-- Joseph L. Wilson, 22, of the 300 block of Washington Street, Coal Grove, denied violating terms of his community control sanctions. Bowling set the case for trial Tuesday.
