Corn festival set for Aug. 10
IRONTON -- A corn festival is planned Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Ironton Farmer's Market. Free ears of boiled corn will be given away from 10 a.m. to noon.
"Corn is the big crop right now so we thought it appropriate to celebrate with the Corn Festival," said Sam Heighton, director of the farmers market. "Home grown corn is at its peak right now and our market is selling many different varieties."
The farmers market in downtown Ironton is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
The free, hot, half-ears of corn is sponsored by Ironton in Bloom.
"We've had a successful year," Heighton said. "This is a thank you to our customers."
