Ironton City Council seats still open, 10 days remain until deadline
IRONTON -- With less than 10 days remaining, no one has filed for one of four open seats on Ironton City Council, according to records in the Lawrence County Board of Elections.
The terms of council members Beth Rist, Butch Huff, Michael P. Lutz and David Frazer are up later this year. Council members Kevin Waldo, Aaron Bollinger and Philip Heald have two more years remaining on their terms on Ironton City Council.
The filing deadline for this fall's general election is 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7.
Elizabeth Township filed a one-mill fire levy renewal for five-years.
Other non-partisan candidates to file in the past 10 days or so include:
Buel Collins and Danny Smith filed as candidates for South Point Village Council. Brenda Chapman filed as a candidate for Proctorville Village Council.
Arthur Suiter filed as a candidate for Chesapeake school board, Jamie Murphy filed as a candidate for Dawson-Bryant school board, R. Matt Ward filed as a candidate for Fairland school board, Dr. Burton Payne filed as a candidate for Ironton school board, Jack Nuckols filed as a candidate for South Point school board. Tommy Shepherd, Chris Thompson and Hope Rowe all filed as candidates for Symmes Valley school board.
Tonnia Meadows filed as a candidate for Aid Township fiscal officer, Tim Blagg filed as a candidate for Decatur Township trustee, Jim Estep filed as a candidate for Mason Township trustee, Katrenda J. Lewis filed as a candidate for Washington Township fiscal officer and Robert Burcham filed as a candidate for Windsor Township trustee.
